Utah Studies Units
Unit 1: Historian SkillsIn this unit, we will be discussing and utilizing critical thinking skills and other skills that historians use in their line of work. These skills will be crucial in Utah Studies as well as other social studies classes.
Unit 4: Explorers and Mountain MenIn this unit, students will learn about explorer and mountain men who helped pave the way for settlers to come to Utah.
Unit 7 ImmigrationIn this unit, students will learn about how their ancestors and others immigrated to the United States. We will also do an Ellis Island Simulation to help them understand the process that immigrants go through to get to the United States.
Unit 10: World War IIn this unit, students will learn about World War I and its impact on Utah. Students will also learn about the Spanish Influenza of 1918 which impacted Utah.

Unit 2: Utah GeographyIn this unit we will be discussing the geography of Utah and how it has impacted the way that we live. We will be utilizing atlases and doing an atlas project.
Unit 5: PioneersIn this unit, students will be able to learn about the pioneers who moved to Utah and helped shape the state to what it is today.
Unit 8: GovernmentIn this unit, students will explore how Utah achieved statehood and how their state government works today. Students will work together to write Bills that will be passed in the Class Congress to help them understand the legislative process.
Unit 11: Roaring 20's, The Great Depression, and AgricultureIn this unit, students will learn about the Roaring 20's, how agriculture impacted Utah and changed overtime, and how the Great Depression affected Utah.

Unit 3: Native AmericansIn this unit we will look at the first inhabitants of Utah and their contributions to the land and the state and how they keep their culture alive.
Unit 6: Struggle for StatehoodIn this unit, we will look at pioneer and Native American conflicts, the Utah War, territorial government, and the beginnings of Utah's industry with the railroad and mining.
Unit 9: Economy and Progressive EraIn this unit, students will explore Utah's economy and how the progressive era changed the role of government regulation in the United States.
Unit 12: World War IIIn this unit, student will learn about World War II, Japanese Internment camps in Utah, and how the war and the camps impacted Utah.
