About Ms. Jacobs
Hi, I'm Ms. Jacobs and this is my third year teaching at South Hills Middle School. I will be teaching 7th Grade Utah Studies and 9th Grade Geography. I received my B.A. in History Teaching with a minor in English Teaching from BYU. I have taught US History, Utah History, and 9th Grade English at Salem Junior High and Timberline Middle School.
I grew up in Lanoka Harbor, New Jersey right on the Jersey Shore and have since moved to Utah for school and work. I love to read, hike, play card games, watch movies, and visit historical sites. When it comes to sports, I love watching the Olympics, soccer, football (rooting for my BYU Cougars and New England Patriots), rugby, swimming, volleyball, figure skating, gymnastics, and track/field.
I have traveled to many historical sites and some national parks. To name a few, I've visited Boston, Plymouth, Gettysburg, New York, Niagara Falls, Lancaster, Valley Forge, Washington D.C., Harpers Ferry, Fredericksburg, Antietam, Richmond, Norfolk, Mesa Verde, the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, Jackson Hole, the Tetons, Lava Hot Springs, Four Corners, Zions, Bryce Canyon, Canyonlands, Arches, Moab, Dead Horse Point, Snow Canyon, etc.
This past summer (2018) I went on a whirlwind tour of Europe! I spent time in Athens, Rome, the Vatican, Paris, Normandy Beach, London, Stonehenge, Edinburgh, the Scottish Highlands, Krakow, Auschwitz-Birkenau, Berlin, Munich, Salzburg, Zermatt, Grindelwald, Lauterbrunnen, and Geneva. This upcoming summer, I will be heading to Israel to attend a seminar at Yad Vashem! I will also take a quick tour to the Pyramids of Giza and Petra and I am very exited about that!
Some of my favorite books to read are The Harry Potter series, Hunger Games, Dante's Inferno, Pride and Prejudice, Jane Eyre, anything by Sarah Eden, Shakespeare's Hamlet, Macbeth, Henry V, Richard III, and anything Holocaust or Genocide related.
I am excited to teach Utah Studies and Geography this year. Please feel free to contact me with any questions or concerns you may have at [email protected]
